the power of microlearning videos for driver education

Content Development Production Management Post Production

challenge

Create memorable, effective microlearning driver education videos that are timely and on brand.

Lyft has a vast, growing network of highly-qualified drivers across the United States and Canada. Lyft needed to educate drivers quickly and effectively, across multiple channels, from apps to email to in-person hubs and beyond, including drivers who might not speak English as a first language.

Video has become a vital component of driver education, from onboarding to continued learning on critical topics like new regulations, programs, and compliance concerns, all of which can change or evolve at any time. Like most companies, Lyft didn’t have the in-house resources required to create the suite of expert, efficient, and effective video learning content they needed.

As a young, influential company, Lyft’s learning content needed to match their brand sensibilities and mission every step of the way. All educational content also needed approval from multiple internal stakeholders.

Content Development

Edios reviewed scripts and outlines, story produced existing content, created compelling narratives, and harnessed the power of storytelling to memorably deliver messages.

We identified creative educational approaches at every stage of development and helped ideate and create a diverse array of formats to not only engage drivers, but also to drive learning. Working in tandem with external creative partners, we ensured everyone’s vision was aligned and incorporated in the final product.

Production

We coordinated and planned video productions and recording sessions with a variety of vendors in multiple countries, and managed an assortment of animation vendors. We booked and managed crews in New York and the Bay Area, both for video production and recording sessions (and even oversaw talent casting). During production, we coordinated with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, from the first frame of film to the last snippet of audio.

When priorities changed or timelines shifted, we engaged our flexible scheduling and project management skills to keep content delivery on schedule. When social distancing became necessary in early 2020, we even mobilized remote production resources to keep projects moving. (“Nimble” really should be our middle name.)
